RER recognition of the Network of Responsible Entities to 12 companies
  • 12 companies obtained the RER recognition of the Network of Responsible Entities promoted by PEFC from the hand of José Ángel Arranz.
  • AVEBIOM also received this recognition as a reference organization in the bioenergy sector.

Within the framework of the 11th edition of Expobiomasa 2017PEFC delivered yesterday to 12 companies in the biomass sector, diplomas of adherence to the Network of Responsible Entities (RER), a common space where to combine, contribute and share solutions in favor of forest sustainability. Javier Díaz, President of AVEBIOM(Spanish Association for the Valorization of Biomass), was the first to receive this recognition as a reference organization in the bioenergy sector and as an entity that supports and promotes the sustainable production of forest biomass.

The companies that become part of this Network that already exceeds the 60 entities are: Energy Applications of the Fusta (Enerbio), Forest Biomass, Biomass and Wood of Zamora, Coterram Generation, Renewable Energy Tarazona (ERTASA), Children of Tomás Martin (Burpellet), J.Famadas, Naturpellet, Pellets Asturias, Probiomassa Producció, Ribpellet, Sacyr Industrial.

At the beginning of the event, Ana Belén Noriega, General Secretary of PEFC Spain said: "The RER has the mission to act as a meeting point between entities sensitized to forest sustainability and disseminate tools such as forest certification and responsible purchases to contribute to the conservation of forests and the development of the rural environment ".

The General Director of Natural Environment of the Junta de Castilla y León, Jose Angel Arranz, was in charge of granting recognition to the companies. During the closing, Arranz congratulated the entities for their adhesion to the RER and their collaboration in the rural development of the populations and environments where they are located. He valued sustainable production as a necessary measure to mitigate climate change and pointed out the importance of using forest biomass to reduce the excessive fuel load in the forests and therefore the danger of fires. He added that more cubic meters of wood are being produced in Castilla y León and the use of alternative fuels such as scrub or waste is being promoted. He also congratulated PEFC Spain for this initiative and for the defense of sustainable forest management. "Sustainable forest management makes society credible," he concluded.
