It is a technologically advanced and highly automated plant in all processes of wood treatment, for its chipping, grinding, drying and granulation. Arapellet will have a production capacity of 140 thousand tons per year, which will be destined mainly for export. When the total volume of investment in the Errago municipality of Zaragoza is completed, which will exceed 17 million euros, people will work in the 30 plant, and additional 100 jobs will be created dedicated to biomass supply activities.
The 85% of the pellet manufactured in Spain is certified with the quality seal ENplus®, according to the Spanish Association of Energy Valorization of Biomass, Avebiom, which manages this certification since its implementation in 2011. From 2011 to 2018 have been issued in Spain a total of 52 ENplus® certificates with production scope and 26 with commercialization scope, which places Spain among the countries with more certified companies in Europe, along with Germany, Austria and Italy.
ENERBIOLOG is an innovative initiative driven by a group of Galician companies to obtain solid biofuels of quality and easy use at minimum economic and energy cost through innovative logistic formats and the application of monitoring and control techniques in real time. The Technological Institute of Galicia, Greenalia, Forestry Biomass and Indutec Engineers are the entities involved.
The start-up of bioenergy Futerra Torrefaçao e Tecnologia SA revealed that it began the construction of its first pellet production plant on a commercial scale in Valongo, Portugal. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 120.000 tons of roasted pellets and 55.000 tons of industrial wood pellets. According to Henk Hutting, president and co-founder of Futerra Fuels, roasting will play a fundamental role in the future of biomass for power generation.
Serra is one of the towns in the Valencian Community, with a clear vocation to be energy self-sufficient. A few years ago they started a local project to take advantage of bioenergy. They convert gardening, agriculture and forestry residues (mainly from fire prevention works) into biofuel suitable for local uses.
Naturpellet, the pellet producer with EN Plus certification, is expanding its annual production by 50% since June, from the 40.000 tons to the 60.000. The boom in the use of biomass, proximity to raw materials and avoiding rural depopulation have been the reasons to address this expansion. From the company define the pellet as << a fuel absolutely local heating, which pays taxes, and the savings with a biomass installation is more than 50% with respect to diesel >>. More info:
ASTIGAL, from the FORESGA group, manages a Biomass Treatment Center specialized in the production of quality chips for its energy use in heat production, in Trasmiras (Orense). They have screens, recasting process and warehouses to supply splinter G-50 and G-30.
PRODESA began its activity in Zaragoza at the end of the 90 to develop projects for the production of solid biofuels, preferably pellets, since the founders of the company participated in two projects for the production of wood pellets in Sweden in the middle of the 90. However, the real opportunities in this sector came much later than expected and the company diversified its activity until they designed, manufactured and installed the first wood pellet factory in Spain, in the 2005 year, for a capacity of some 30.000 tons per year.
Boga technique has participated innovating in the bagging of pellets in 30 plants since 12 years ago
Boga Técnica is a company focused mainly on the advice, distribution and sale of solutions for the automation of bagging lines. Its activity began 12 years ago, with the beginning of the wood pellet sector in Spain. At that time, it was something quite unknown but at the same time there was a lot of hope that it would work well based on the success that other European countries had already had.
The challenge association in Liencres integrates, trains and employs four people in its pellet manufacturing plant with ENplus certification
The RETO 1 shelter in Liencres, Cantabria, develops a reinsertion program through the Cooperativa Reto a la Esperanza Cooperative: manufacture and sale of pellets. This and other waste management activities allow for an integration and training function for four people working in the plant.
The new logistic center of biomass with splinter of "kilometer zero" in the Vallès (Barcelona) opens
New Regional Biomass Logistics Center, a key part of the Bosques del Vallès fire prevention project based on the boosting of forest biomass. The Logistics Center of Biomass is the center of operations of the Regional Service of Forest Biomass and it allows to close the circle of the project of forest exploitation for the obtaining of spill that feeds the boilers of biomass of the region. Thus, a key equipment for obtaining clean energy and proximity and to ensure forest management that reduces the risk of fire.
Ingelia Euskadi, through a hydrothermal carbonization process (HTC) of biomass, obtains a solid biofuel of high PCI (calorific value), low humidity, high combustion efficiency and without CO2 emission quotas from different types of organic matter . According to official data, the firm intends to carry out in Zierbena a total investment of 4.230.000 euros from which the Basque Government will contribute 423.000, which, in turn, will serve to create 12 new jobs.
