Last Friday the biomass boiler was officially inaugurated, with an industrial steam generation capacity of 4.000 kilograms / hour, which replaces the old gas boiler in the LC Paper 1881 facilities in Besalú (Barcelona). The company itself indicated in the presentation that the first chip truck comes from Lladó forests, located fifteen kilometers from the factory. "This is one of the first concepts that we wanted to make clear: biomass is zero kilometer, comes from the local territory and is certified," says Joan Vila, general manager of LC Paper 1881.

Now it's the turn of the boiler that, according to Inypsa Efficiency, which acts as an energy services company within the project, will provide industrial steam (four tons / hour) to the three paper manufacturing lines of the plant. "Apart from using clean energy for the environment, it will provide an 10 percent savings in fuel consumption and will reduce CO2 emissions by 6.800 tons per year," they added from Inypsa.

The promoters also remember that forest resources in the area will be used. From LC Paper 1881 reminded at the opening that "the first chip truck has come from forests of Lladó, located fifteen kilometers from the factory." "This is one of the first concepts that we wanted to make clear in the presentation: the biomass is kilometer zero, comes from the local territory and is certified," says Joan Vila.
