The new biomass plant in Aarhus, makes the second city of Denmark self-sufficient and free of CO2

AARHUS biomass plant in Denmark

Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city, already has a new 110 MW biomass plant for cogeneration (heat and power). The new biomass plant uses locally sourced straw and wood chips. And it has had an investment of 175 million euros.

"The start-up of this plant is an advance for the objective of being free of contaminant emissions in 2030, which together with the newly converted biomass coal generation plant of Studstrupverket, make Denmark's second largest city self-sufficient in electricity and heat to cover the consumption of Aarhus ", explains Kristian Würtz, Chief Executive Officer of the Technical and Environmental Council of Aarhus.
