Bioenergy remains the world's first renewable source

Bioenergy is the renewable source that contributes most to the global final energy demand: it provides 12,8% of the total. Modern bioenergy already covers an 10,1% of the heating demand in buildings (4,0%) and in the industry (6,1%), still behind the worldwide consumption of firewood for heat that is in the 16,4%. It also provides an 2% of the world electricity production (with a growth of 7% in 2017) and an 3% of transport needs (with a growth of 2,5%).
