Ferrero Rocher switches to self-consumption with biomass

Ferrero roché changes to biomass

Self-consumption for your dryers with their hazelnut shells.

Right now it does it in a pilot phase in Chile, in the factory that the Italian multinational (Grupo Ferrero) has in Talca, through its subsidiary AgriChile. But according to the magazine Bioenergy International The company "has approved the replacement of 250 diesel burners by other biomass (hazelnut shells) in 17 of the 22 manufacturing plants with which it has worldwide." The diesel oil is completely replaced by the husk generated in the industry, which is used to dry the fruit. The contract has been awarded to a Spanish company: Natural Fire.

From 4.300 daily liters of diesel to 8,7 tons of own hazelnut shells
The work of Natural Fire has consisted of the replacement of the 18 diesel burners of the hazelnut drying plant located in Talca by others fed by the fruit husks. "The consumption of diesel oil was 4.300 liters per day, which is now replaced one hundred percent by the shell generated in the industry, 8,7 tons per day, so the cost of feeding the burners is practically zero", highlight in Magazine.
