Ence bets for the hybridization between the biomass and the thermosolar

Thermosolar biomass hybridization

ENCE is firmly committed to the hybridization of some thermosolar plants with renewable energy generation with biomass.

The agreement by which ENCE will acquire the 90% of the Termosolar from Puertollano to Iberdrola, will allow converting a non-manageable renewable asset -which only generates energy during the hours with Sol- into manageable, thanks to the biomass capacity to produce energy from programmable, firm and stable way, and in times of high demand.

A solar thermal plant without salt accumulation generates energy only about 1.500 hours per year, and with inefficiency in starting and shutting down the plant, at the beginning and at the end of the sun hours. With the installation simply of a boiler of biomass, the solar thermal plant can work uninterrupted at least from the 6 in the morning to the 12 at night, which are the hours of maximum consumption of electricity. Thus, with the hybridization of solar thermal with biomass, generation can be increased by about 3.800 hours / year of maximum demand, and a renewable asset that is not manageable becomes manageable.
