The biomass in the heating prevented the emissions of 2,6 million vehicles

The use of biomass reduces the emission of biomass

The use of biomass as a heating fuel - almost 245.000 facilities at 2017 - avoided the emission of 3,85 million tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of what 2,6 pollutes millions of vehicles in a year.

This is clear from a report Observatory of Biomass, of the Spanish Association for Biomass Energy Recovery (Avebiom), in which it monitors the evolution of these stoves and boilers.

According to the president of Avebiom, Javier Díaz, in Spain "we could advance much more rapidly in the use of the biomass that our forests treasure, an activity that would have a direct impact on improving its conservation, generating employment and wealth, as well as preventing fires fortuitous or to facilitate the tasks of extinction, in case they occur ".

To promote this activity, Avebiom is calling for concrete measures, especially of a fiscal nature, such as the reduction of the Real Property Tax (IBI), of a municipal nature, or the application of a reduced VAT to biomass, as in other countries (United Kingdom). (5%), Belgium and Luxembourg (6%), Germany (7%), France (10%), Latvia (12%), Austria (13%), Ireland (13,5%) and Czech Republic (15%))
