Denmark participates in the Expobiomasa fair

Denmark is one of the few countries in the world that has decoupled economic growth from the energy demand thanks to its policies to promote energy efficiency and renewable energies, especially wind and bioenergy. These policies, initiated in the 80 decade, have led to the creation of an important industry dedicated to the development and manufacture of technologies and equipment related to the biomass and biogas sector.

Energy policy is one of the issues of political consensus in Denmark, thus favoring the stability of the regulatory framework. The last national energy plan, approved at 2012, has as its fundamental objective that Denmark be totally free of fossil fuels in 2050. One of the main elements of the plan is bioenergy, specifically the substitution of coal and other fossil fuels for biomass, and the increase in biogas production.

"Bioenergy will be key to the success of the energy transition already started and the necessary reduction of the effects of climate change", explains Narcís Margall, director of the Commercial Office of Denmark in Barcelona. ”Denmark has been conducting an energy strategy for years aimed at eliminating fossil fuels from energy generation, and both biomass and biogas play a fundamental role in replacing dirty fuels and in taking advantage of the generation and transport infrastructure already in place in the country. This is, in my opinion, a key aspect that all the countries around us face: how to optimize the “return on investment” necessary to carry out the energy transition. This return should not be limited to a concept of financial profitability, but the formula should include all socioeconomic effects ”.

The grouped participation of Denmark in Expobiomasa has been organized by the Danish Bioenergy Network and Embassy of Denmark  and is co-financed by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Expobiomasa 2017, Organized by the Spanish Association of Energy Valorization of Biomass (AVEBIOM), it is held in Valladolid between the 26 and the 29 in September, coinciding with the 11 International Bioenergy Congress. It is one of the main professional events in the biomass sector, which has been taking place in Spain for more than ten years.
