540 companies from 30 countries will show the latest industry news at Expobiomasa 2019

Expobiomasa presentation
In this edition the influx of more than 15.000 professional visitors is expected, of which about 1.500 will travel to Valladolid from a total of 40 countries, especially European and American.

The international fair Expobiomasa 2019, which will make Valladolid the European capital of the sector during the 24, 25 and 26 days of this month, it will concentrate on 540 exhibiting companies in a total of 28.000 square meters of the fairgrounds of this city, where the latest developments in the sector will be shown, as reported by the president of the Spanish Association of Energy Valuation of Biomass, Avebiom, Javier Díaz, at the official presentation of the fair held today in the Valladolid City Council, chaired by the city's mayor, Óscar Puente.

According to the data provided by the president of Avebiom - organizing body of the fair - in the twelfth edition Expobiomasa is expected the influx of more than 15.000 professional visitors, of which about 1.500 will travel to Valladolid from a total of 40 countries, especially European and American; as well as representatives of more than 60 accredited media.

The main objective of the contest is to boost biomass as a source of energy, both in the domestic and industrial fields, in addition to promoting the commercial activity of the sector, which in the last edition (2017) was a business increase generated in the order of 17 million euros.

Among the events that will take place during the three days of the fair, the celebration of the 'International Conference of the Domestic Pellet Market ', the' Second Hispanic-Finnish Seminar'(Finland is the guest country in this edition), as well as the four technical conferences and the debate on environmental communication and bioenergy organized by the Association of Environmental Information Journalists (APIA) in collaboration with Avebiom and Gestamp.

THE BUSINESS GENERATED BY THE MODERN THERMAL SECTOR TAKEN TO 870 MILLION IN 2018 AND GENERATED ALMOST A THOUSAND NEW JOBS

The business of the solid biomass sector (thermal, electric and traditional wood) amounts to 1.530 million euros. Of these, the modern thermal biomass sector, which operates with technologically advanced equipment, generated a business of 870 millions of euros in 2018, an 1,7% more, which allowed 950 to create new jobs (11%), according to data from the Report Annual Biomass Observatory managed by Avebiom.

At the end of 2018, 298.400 operated biomass-fueled heating installations in Spain, 53.480 more than the previous year, which represents an increase of 22%.

The high efficiency biomass heating sector employs about 9.600 people, who are mainly engaged in manufacturing, marketing, installation and maintenance of stoves and boilers.
Likewise, the biomass power generation has an installed power of 677 electric megawatts (MWe) and 200 will be put into operation at the beginning of next year 2020.

AN ANTIDOTE AGAINST DEVELOPMENT

The president of Avebiom said that the Observatory indicators reflect “a line of steady and solid growth of the sector in Spain", Although he considered that" we still have a long way to go ", referring not only to the use of biomass as a source of heat, but also - and above all - to the role that biomass can play in the field of electricity generation.

After remembering that the activity of the sector, both in the production and marketing of pellets, splinters, firewood, olive bones and other fuels, “is based on harnessing the wealth of our forests", Which is currently far below the potential they offer, Javier Díaz said" this involvement of our sector with the rural environment makes it the most effective antidote against depopulation and abandonment of these areas in decline. " And more, if possible, "he said," in Castilla y León, "where we have more than four million hectares of forest."

The president of Avebiom invited “everyone” to consider the alternative of using biomass from a realistic and practical point of view. "Heating biomass is much cheaper than fossil fuels, it generates value in the rural environment - which allows local economies to be energized - and prevents the sending of our currency to third countries."
