Popupsko, the Croatian people that are heated with bioenergy

Pokupsko is a municipality in northwestern Croatia, near the Kupa river. Surrounded by forests and hills, its 2.500 residents are accustomed to living in harmony with nature. In the last 10 years, a series of projects related to the Energy efficiency and renewable energy.

One of those projects was district heating with biomass to provide heat to public and private buildings, as well as homes located downtown. 75% of the energy needs of the municipality are covered thanks to this installation, and it plan to reach 100% in the next 5 years. All this taking advantage of local resources.
