On International Environment Day, it was recalled that the use of biomass as a source of thermal energy avoided in 2016 the emission of 3,68 million tons of CO2 in Spain, thus contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases in Spain, according to data from the Biomass Observatory (www.observatoriobiomasa.es) managed by the Spanish Association for Energy Efficiency of Biomass, AVEBIOM. A reduction that is equivalent to the pollution produced by 2,45 million vehicles during a year.

At the end of 2016, 198.887 had used high performance biomass equipment in Spain, 38.851 more than in 2015 (+ 24%), with a total installed capacity of 8.297,6 MW, according to the Biomass Observatory.
