The pruning of the vineyards is viable to generate energy

viñesXcalor

In the framework of the actions of the VIÑASxCALOR project, the past 11 of March, different experts from the Biomass Cluster of Catalonia, the City Council of Vilafranca del Penedés, the Innovation Cluster of Granada, the Wine Cluster of Catalonia, the Cooperativa de Granada, from the project itself and from ATHISA, leading company in the energetic exploitation of pruning of vineyard, and that will be present in Expobiomasa2019, were analyzing the situation of the agricultural biomass in Spain and, of special form the evolution in Catalonia.

A key issue analyzed was that in a relatively short period of time the burning of agricultural residues in the field (which emit, for example, more than 90% of the CO2 produced by the entire viticulture process) will be prohibited and will have to be reused, in a circular economy process, to make energy. This means taking an important leap in the use of pruning, to move to a treatment and wholesale use, with the medium-term objective of being one more element of the energy mix together with other sustainable local energies, with the advantage of be manageable by providing support to other renewable sources that are not operational when there is no wind or sun.

ATHISA will be present at EXPOBIOMASA 2109
