Granollers will build the biomass heat network next year to replace natural gas

Granollers heat network

The City Council of Granollers has decided to reduce energy dependence on fossil fuels and gradually replace them with renewable energies, such as solar energy or biomass. Thus, next year it will replace the old natural gas boilers with biomass boilers.

The biomass heat network to supply thermal energy to the Cine Edison, the Salvador Espriu School, the EMT, EM Salvador Llobet and IES Antoni Cumella received in 2018 the co-financing of the Diputación de Barcelona, specifically 199.498 euros. The rest of the co-financing will come from the municipal investment budget 2019, 444.000 euros. It has been estimated that once it gets under way, you will avoid 195,78 t from CO2 and save 12.311 euros per year.
