Fall of the 40% of Finland's paper exports in 10 years while the use of bioenergy consolidates its growth.

The 75% of Finland's area is forest. One third is in the hands of the State, and they are in charge of exploiting them, taking care of them and protecting them, and try to promote the green economy. In the absence of other resources, half of the country's exports are related to clean technologies and the bioeconomy. And the forestry sector accumulates 21,6% of Finnish exports. And the Government wants it to remain so in the future. For this reason, the forestry sector is part of its circular economy road map.

Currently, the Finnish forest sector is in full transformation. You just have to see the figures in exports of paper for printing and writing in this country. In less than a decade, more than one 40% have fallen.

The use of bioenergy grows.

One example is that for the Finnish company UPM, which has 19.300 workers, the manufacture of second generation biofuels, those manufactured from forest stands and that do not compete with food, is their area with the most future. The biodiesel that they manufacture already represented in 2016 the 20% of their sales.

The "Winter Package" which is the energy plan presented by the European Commission —And that will have to be agreed next year between the European Chamber and the member countries— for the development of renewables during the 2020-2030 period, it will promote second-generation biofuels that emit 80% less CO2 emissions than fuels conventional.

This transition in the sustainable use of our forest resources, is being carried out for many years with all the guarantees. European forest managers are doing their job well: our forests grow at a rate of one football field per minute, also favoring that our forests are natural sinks of CO2.

Some companies that are participating in this transition in Finland will be present at Expobiomasa 2017: AFM FOREST OYFARMI-FORESTJUNKKARILOGSET OYMECANILMOIPU PALAX y RISUTEC OY
