Statement by Fernando Summers, CEO of Rastreator.com, on World Environment Day.

"We are aware that there are still many challenges to be achieved in this area and that renewable energies have not yet managed to unseat nuclear energy or fossil fuels. However, it is very encouraging to observe how society is increasingly committed to the environment and, according to our IV Online Comparison Study towards Smart Savings, the 81,4% of Spaniards would turn to this cause and bet on self-consumption, if it could sell the surplus electricity produced. This is something that the current legislation does not allow.

In this sense, to continue fostering the use of clean energy among the population and to achieve compliance with the European regulations for the implementation of renewable energies - which establishes the common goal that the 20% of total energy consumption must come from renewable energies in 2020 for the 28 member countries of the EU- it is essential to have the support of the Government, a demand that already demands the 88,5% of the Spanish population.
