ABP Food Group is recognized as an industry leader in the United Kingdom when it comes to sustainable practices and environmental initiatives.

In 2015, the company opened the world's first emission-neutral certified slaughterhouse in Ellesmere (United Kingdom), where the waste material from the food processing operation is used together with used cooking oil to provide the energy requirements of the facility. The company that employs more than 600 people across the UK decided to invest in a new project, which should result in the production of a milk without carbon.

An investment of 24,6 € million by the renewable division of ABP Food Group, Olleco, to open a 15 MW anaerobic digestion facility in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, which It will create enough green energy to sustainably supply the equivalent of 12.000 homes. The ABP Food Group facility is located adjacent to the Arla dairy, which allows the dairy producer to become a neutral milk processing facility. Robert Behan of Olleco said the new facility is a excellent example of the circular economy, with multiple supply chain partners working together to achieve a truly sustainable result. This modern Olleco facility will convert more than 100.000 tons of waste into heat, energy and biomethane to export to the national network, and biofertilizers for the agricultural suppliers of ABP Food Group and Arla.
