The energy use of biomass is indispensable to face the urgency of the fight against climate change

La 25th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition, which closed its doors at the 15 in June in Stockholm (Sweden), had it as its motto and had a special impact on strengthening the sustainability of biomass, with a joint document with FAO and Irena.

Two reports, one of the World Bioenergy Association and another REN21, a network that works within the framework of the United Nations Environment Program, have not limited themselves to finding that three quarters of the demand for renewables is covered with bioenergy (heat, electricity and transport), but "represents half of the most profitable options to double the use of renewable energies for 2030 ".

"All available alternatives to fossil fuels are necessary and biomass is an essential component in the transition to a one hundred percent renewable society," said David Baxter, until recently a member of the Joint Research Center of the European Commission.

More vehement was Gustav Melin, general director of Svebio, Swedish bioenergy association, who sent the scientists several messages, including "stop talking about bioenergy as a limited resource; all the facts show that there is enough biomass for all the energy needs ".
