In environmental matters, during 2017 the Holcim factory in Carboneras avoided the emission into the atmosphere of 5.600 tons of CO2, thanks to the use of biomass. The director of the factory, Sergio Martínez, points out that "In 2017 the percentage of alternative fuels measured by the waste substitution rate was 26,8%, reflecting the company's commitment to environmental sustainability and involvement in the circular economy".
