The biomass could meet all the energy demand in Europe, until the December 31

European Day of bioenergy

The 'European Day of Bioenergy' is celebrated every year on the date from which the energy demand could be met exclusively with biomass until the end of the year. 2017 is celebrated on Tuesday November 21. According to the data of the European Association of Biomass (AEBIOM), Europe could be supplied with renewable energy during 66 days in 2017, of which in 41 days would be used exclusively biomass. Some data that show the "Fundamental role" played by biomass in the transition to renewable energy, as explained by the president of the Spanish Association of Energy Valorization of Biomass, AVEBIOM, Javier Díaz. "Bioenergy is the most important renewable energy source in Europe, which is close to surpassing coal to become the first source of autochthonous energy ".

Spain, meanwhile, would be self-sufficient with biomass for 28 days, so it will celebrate the 'Day of Bioenergy' next 3 in December. In the European ranking, it is ranked number 23 (together with Belgium) of the countries with capacity to meet energy demand only with biomass, far from Sweden, with 132 days.

According to AEBIOM, the bioenergy sector should aspire to advance the Day of the Bioenergy to the month of October in 2030, reaching an objective of 35% of renewable and with biomass with a fundamental role.
