Between 16.000 and 18.000 tons of vine shoots and strains of the RIOJA ALAVESA could be used as biomass with an extraordinary calorific power for energy use in the Rioja Alavesa as the project has shown Vitibiomwas.

The project has tested the energy recovery of 25.000 kilos of vine shoots in a warehouse in Laguardia and with the collaboration of a good group of vine growers that allowed its collection. During the tests 4.500 kilos of pellet and other 4.500 kilos of chips were obtained with very satisfactory results. To the point that the Basque Energy Agency (EVE) is studying the possibility of setting up a permanent center for the transformation of this material.
