The average expenditure of Spanish households in electricity and gas during the first quarter of the year was 338,4 euros (that is, an average of 112,8 euros per month), which represents an increase of an 6% with respect to the first three months of 2016, period in which we allocate an average of 318,4 euros to this concept. This is clear from the "Fintonic 2017 Energy Study", a report that analyzes the energy expenditure of more than 150.000 Spanish households between January and March of 2017.
According to this analysis, the market in Spain is still dominated by Iberdrola, Endesa, Gas Natural, EDP Energy and Viesgo, which account for more than 90% of turnover. However, with respect to the data provided by this same study in 2015, there is a reduction in the quota that they represent. A decrease that also manifests itself in the evolution experienced in the first months of the year with respect to the number of clients.
